Formula Ford Engine

Formula Ford 1600cc, F2000 and 2.0L Sport Car Engines

The crossflow engine was used all over the world in these categories and are still used today in historic racing. The 1600cc engines produced around 120BHP and the 2000cc engines around 150BHP.

Neil started his race engine building career on a 1600cc engine used in New Zealand’s Formula Ford series.

“I love these little engines, as these engines used in the New Zealand Formula Ford series were the catapult for myself and many other Kiwi’s to leave New Zealand and go to England to race.”

At one time in Formula One, ¼ of the drivers on the F1 grid came from New Zealand and Australia and over 1/3 of the mechanics were from New Zealand and Australia.

We love rebuilding these engines as they represent what a starter race engine should be. Simple, effective, and inexpensive.
